B2B Technology Networking Dinner 2023
Last week we had the pleasure of hosting our annual B2B Software networking dinner at L’oscar attended by 80 B2B investors, entrepreneurs, CEOs, Board members and C’suite executives.
The evening’s first speaker was David Quantrell, Chair at Speechmatics which offers a leading speech-to-text API engine for service providers. David drew from his vast experiences to discuss how those in advisory roles can provide tangible value to executive teams. He identified that providing a framework for planning, problem-solving and an attitude of debating for the sake of learning and not winning, is critical to leading executive teams through periods of growth.
Following David, we heard from Barbod Namini, Partner at HV Capital, one of Europe’s leading venture capital funds based in Germany. Barbod’s address focussed on how B2B tech companies across Europe are positioned going into the next decade. He highlighted how the Covid-19 pandemic shed light on the parts of our digital ecosystem that were grossly underdeveloped, stretching across all sectors including education, healthcare, logistics and banking. Barbod shared his optimism and excitement for the next decade as a venture capitalist - “when there are large problems to solve, often large outcomes follow”.
“We go in roughly three-year cycles when it comes to increasing and decreasing valuations, so right now is the time to focus on driving the business forward for the next few years until valuations really bounce back.”
“It became evident that the digital infrastructure of some of the most important parts of our societies were non-existent or rotten to the core.”
