Digital Masters - London Board Dinner 2020

This was our seventh time organising the London Board Dinner, and this year may have been our strongest yet! We host dinners such as this throughout the year in other key European tech hubs as part of our Digital Masters Programme, with locations including: Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, and Stockholm. The programme culminates in our flagship event, The Digital Masters Awards, in September, an awards ceremony celebrating the very best in digital leadership across all core functions.

Since we began organising this event, the digital ecosystem has grown from strength to strength, with some of our attendees from years past, such as Trainline, Just Eat and Farfetch, maturing into public powerhouses, and new start-ups on the scene, like Checkout.com and KRY, becoming the ones to watch.

Our guest speaker for the evening was the celebrated journalist, Oliver Shah. Oliver is the award-winning Business Editor of the Sunday Times and one of the most respected national commentators on business and the high street. He was named business journalist of the year at the 2017 Press Awards for his investigation into Sir Philip Green’s £1 sale of BHS.

What emerged from discussion was a real confidence, despite the general slow-down of the British economy, in the tech sector: the $13.2bn dollar figures representing the UK securing one-third of all technology investment being mentioned a lot. FinTech was the real golden child this year, the sector raising $4.9bn in the last year, an increase of $1.3bn on the year before.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended as well as our ever brilliant sponsors, Orrick, SVB and Silverpeak, for their continued loyalty to our mission of supporting the tech ecosystem.
