Sam Halse - Adyen

Adyen’s amazing growth story continues, with the volume of transactions processed on the platform doubling for the third year in a row, to $90 billion in 2016. The company has also gained significant traction in the retail market, unveiling successful in-store and omnichannel payment solutions for global brands such as Tory Burch and Burberry.

Sam has played a key role in driving this growth, notably on the retail side. In the past year, the POS solution expanded to over 2,700 stores across the US and Europe, and Sam’s team has focused on ensuring a consistently excellent customer experience.

Maintaining Adyen’s cultural integrity as it scales has been another focus area for him – the company has grown by 25% in the last year, and now employs 500 people worldwide.

Roy Blanga - Deliveroo

Roy has been pivotal in transforming a UK business into a global one, establishing the brand in foreign markets, often without first-mover advantage.

Having joined Deliveroo in June 2015 with the remit of building the business outside the UK, Roy has driven its expansion into 54 cities across ten countries, including the UAE, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Australia. International now represents over 50% of the overall business, and is seeing double-digit growth each month.

Roy has spent the last 12 months building out the infrastructure to support this internationalisation. Operations teams have been created in each market, hiring 300 people. Local nuances mean that certain operational aspects must be tailored to each market, but Roy has established a common identity that glues the company together.


Annabel Jack (née Kilner)

MADE continues to go from strength to strength, and since the founders’ exit, Annabel is now the longest-standing member of the management team. She oversaw 50% year-on-year growth last year, with the German market projected to grow over 100% in 2017.

During her tenure, MADE has been named in the Sunday Times’ ‘Top 10 Disruptors’, in large part due to Annabel’s initiatives such as physical showrooms with NFC tablets.

In the past year, Annabel has led a company-wide restructuring, and helped develop a clear five-year vision, including reshaping the culture to attract and retain the best talent. MADE also became a member of the 30% Club, promoting greater female representation on FTSE 100 boards.
